Thank you all for a lovely funeral mass for my Aunt, Maura Doyle. Maura was a wonderful woman whom we will miss deeply. It was awesome to see the outpouring of love and respect for her. Truly, a great send off for a great woman. Climber Hall will never be the same. Rest in Peace.

Hello Martin,
I wanted to thank you for the time and effort you spent with us when we visited you last week. As you know I visited Kells on a couple of occasions as a child in the 1950s and stayed with my Aunt Ethel and Uncle Tommy [Hunt] I have a second cousin Mark who I have lost contact with and wondered if anyone had news of him? Just like to know he is well. My maiden name was Hurst and I had three brothers Peter, Robin and Graham. Thanks again for all you help.

Hi Siobhan
Delighted that you remembered me after all these years. I too enjoyed my time in Eureka. Have you been able to contact any of your classmates - Angela Farrell or Nora Horgan for eg? I can put you in touch with them if you wish? Its great that you have such happy memories of Eureka and be sure to contact me in John Street when you visit Kells.

As an occasional visitor to Kells - both to inform my family about their heritage and to complete the family tree - I keep my eye on what is happening in the town. I would like to say what an excellent Web Site this is. I last visited the town a couple of years ago with my wife when we stayed at the Headfort Arms for a few days, attended 11 am Mass, visited Martry and Kells cemeteries and briefly met my second cousins (the Tallons) at Martry Mill. I do remember the new Kells church being built as we children used to spend the entire summer holidays with my uncles and aunts either on the O'Brien (Paddy, Nicholas and Janie) farm in Kilmainham, or the Sweeney (James and Lizzie) farm in Fyanstown or with Judge Michael and Annie Sweeney in Maudlin Road.
Actually, my mother Alice was the only one of the O'Brien family from Kilmainham to have any children. My next planned trip is to bring my grandchildren to the town.
Best wishes Professor John Monaghan

Hi Martin! Septi told me about the Guest Book so I have just spent a very pleasant time scrolling through some of the messages. It was lovely to see the posts from Patricia Grimes and Nuala McGovern, both of them were in my class in school and I keep in touch with Patricia at Christmas but haven't seen her for a fair number of years. Would love to meet up with them both again. I was in Kells before Christmas at two very happy occasions, Noel and Dolores Flynn's 50th wedding anniversary in November and Ger (Healy) and Paddy Gillick's wedding anniversary in December. It was great to meet up with so many old friends. Will be down on Saturday the 30th for dear Dessie's first anniversary Mass(R.I.P.).It is hard to believe that a whole year has passed since he left us.
Anyway, loved the photo gallery, especially the shots of St. Colmcilles Well. I remember going there in the summertime to say the rosary and being chased up the lane by a boy who had a frog!

What a lovely surprise to hear from Ann and Pat! I got a letter from my neice to remind me to look at this Guest Book and there you were! Some of the other students I remember were, Helen Kelly, Ann Branigan, Margaret Carpenter and those are just a couple of names that come to mind! I fondly remember some of my teachers from Kells, Mother Gertrude, Sr Benignas, Sr Brendan, Mother Stanislaus in second class! My brother Stephen still lives near Kells and both His children attend school there! I am so thrilled to be able to talk to anyone who remembers me and or any of my family! Living in America is so far away that it is nice to return to ones roots and remember the "Good old Days" Thank you for the opportunity!

Siobhan, I remember you well. I lived in Maudlin and of course remember your mother's
bike up and down our road and a charming lady she was( RIP). Was your sister called Gabriel? I think you were English descent and probably related to Miss McCormack? I too was a first year student into Eureka in 1956. We had such lovely nuns - Ignatius, Evangelist, Gertrude, Benignus, Philomena,
Immaculata and also Niamh Daly (lets get it right - they did a pretty good job)!?
Its my sister Lynn who told me about this site and Im delighted to make contact. Keep well and a very happy new year

Thank you for such a brilliant site. The warmth that comes through from the people of Kells is amazing.Since finding an old box of photo's just over 6 months ago in my mothers attic I have found a new world that didn't exsist before;to find that my grandfather was one of 15 children(I only ever knew of 4 before)
That most were born and raised in Headfort Place was all news to me,i am now doing my best to find my lost family and thanks to your help and wonderful site it is beginning to happen.Any Reillys out there who may be linked I would love to hear from you.
To all the people of Kells A Happy and prosperous New year

Hi Siobhan. I came across your message on the parish website and it brought back fond memories of going to Eureka. My name is Anne Fitzsimons (nee Grace). I remember I used to go with my late mother for eggs to Smiths, who lived around Cherry Hill, and we would occasionally meet you on the road. I didn't know you had emigrated.
Other classmates of ours are Cepta Ephgrave (nee Griffin), living in town, and Betty Duff (nee Sheridan), living on Headfort Road. The only living teacher of ours I remember is Niamh Daly (nee Conlon), who lives on John Street, Kells.
You may remember my husband Jack, as he remembers you. He came from Gravelstown, Carlanstown.

Father John, Father Liam and Martin, This is a great website, very current and informative. It shows great community spirit, energy and is a great example of modern church practice and communication channel. Thank you again for blessing my house. God Bless to all in Kells.
