WELCOME TO THE PARISH OF KELLS AND GIRLEY
Part of the Diocese of Meath, the Parish of Kells and Girley has approximately 2400 homes served by 2 Churches - St. Colmcille's Church Kells and the Church of the Immculate Conception Girley. The name Kells may also appear as Ceanannus Mor or Ceannanus (see Map below)
St. Colmcille's Church completed in 1960 had seen little structural change over the years.
Having restored the stained glass windows and repaired the roof, the refurbishment of the Sanctuary and the decoration of the entire Church is now complete. The re-dedication of the Church by bishop Smith took place on Saturday 24 Sept 2005 at the Vigil Mass. The Church also contains a Facsimile of the Book of Kells. A Ramp has been installed at the front of the Church to cater for the disabled.
For those with the proper Hearing Aid the Loop System has been installed. If you wish to avail of this facility, one must sit in the top right hand section of the Church.
All parishioners and friends are welcome to visit the Church to see the refurbishment.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception underwent major structural change in 1979 and is proving particularly popular for weddings.

Message from Fr. John Byrne PP:
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Welcome to our Parish Website.
As you will see from the top of the website, the Banner which we have chosen is an illustration of the main artefacts representing the Parish of Kells and Girley - three symbols which provides our parish with history, heritage and spiritual identity - St. Colmcille's House (the Patron Saint of the Parish), the Book of Kells and the Cross of Kells.
Our Parish has seen many changes over the past few years. From a rural past, we have developed into a large urban area. The number of homes has more than doubled over the past 10 years and this trend is set to continue for the foreseeable future.
On behalf of the Parish Community, I welcome the many people who have chosen the Parish of Kells and Girley as their home and I feel honoured to invite them to join in the spiritual life of the Parish.
We wish you the best in settling into our community and we welcome the variety of tradition and experience which you bring.
I welcome and recommend any participation in any of the various aspects of the Community - Readings, Ministry of the Eucharist, Senior Choir, Junior Choir. Folk Group, Altar Servers,Readers,Parish Commitees etc -and hope the the experience will be most rewarding.
A special invitation to our young parishioners of the area to visit our specialised web site for Youth.
As a response to challenging and changing times, we set up the Parish Website as another means of communication, not only with our parishioners, but also with our many friends and relatives abroad. From humble beginnings we hope to expand the site in time to the extent that one should be able to access information on Baptism, Weddings, Funeral Notices,Weekly Notices, Bereavement etc.
Should you have any queries pertaining to our Parish or any recommendation on the development of the Website, feel free to contact myself, Fr. John or Fr. Liam Malone CC at the Parochial House or Mr. Martin Grace, Parish Secretary at the Parish Office ph 046 - 9240213, Fax 9293475,E Mail
. You can also leave an E Mail message by selecting the Contact Us icon on the Main Menu.
